The purpose of our Sport and Recreation Strategy is to activate and encourage increased participation in the Adelaide Hills community, and effective use of the region's facilities. This document will guide our approach to playgrounds, sports facilities and other recreational activities that are undertaken by the community in our region.
Following the review of the Adelaide Hills Council Sport and Recreation Strategy, we are refining our approach in how we determine support to our Community in the area of Sport and Recreation. One component of this is via our annual Sport & Recreation Facility Grants.
At its meeting on 13 December 2016, Council decided to defer the 2016/2017 financial year Sport & Rec Facility Grants funds and make them available in the 2017/2018 financial year instead. As a result this 2017/18 grant round will have 'double funding' available, and will be supported by a clearer process and new and improved guidelines to maximise community outcomes.
The recently endorsed Sport and Recreation Strategy contains actions that relate to these Sport and Recreation Facility grants, including the review of their guidelines. Council is committed to open, participative and transparent decision making and administrative processes, and the deferral of funds and review of these guidelines will ensure this.
More information will become available and communicated to clubs in due course, but it is anticipated that new guidelines and funding will be available between approximately July – November 2017.
