Tuesday 5 December 2017 is International Volunteer Day, a day celebrated worldwide in recognition of the positive solidarity of volunteers around the globe. Here in the Adelaide Hills we are blessed to have a high percentage of volunteers who help our communities come together, celebrate and grow, and we would like to use International Volunteer Day to say a big thank you to all of them.
In the Adelaide Hills Council district, nearly a third of our residents (29.8%) volunteer their time in sports clubs, community groups, libraries, and charity organisations to name just a few. This is in comparison to Greater Adelaide, where approximately 18% of the population is actively involved in volunteering*.
We are truly grateful to all of these people and know that many services and clubs would simply not be able to operate without you. So thank you, volunteers; you are part of what makes the Adelaide Hills so great.
