The 2017 Santos Tour Down Under will again roll through the Adelaide Hills in January 2017, with a thrilling full day stage in the region.
The 2017 race routes were this morning (11 July) revealed in a launch at the Velo Precinct in Victoria Park, Adelaide.
The Hills will feature in three stages and Mike Turtur, Race Director, Santos Tour Down Under said the Adelaide Hills would play host to Staging Connections Stage 2 with a start in Stirling and stage finish in Paracombe.
"The spotlight will be on the Adelaide Hills for Staging Connections Stage 2 with this stage having a big impact on the result of the race. Five laps of Stirling will provide ample opportunities to take in the elite racing action and a technical and difficult finish is expected into Paracombe."
"As Australia's premier cycling race, our focus continues to grow and deliver a world class cycling event," said Mike Turtur.
Mayor Bill Spragg said the hills will come alive with international cycling champions, legions of fans and cycling enthusiasts.
"We are looking forward to working the South Australian Tourism Commission, our communities and local businesses to showcase the best of what the Adelaide Hills offers."
"This is our opportunity to host people from across Australia and around the world, while also putting ourselves in an international spotlight."
Mayor Bill Spragg also paid tribute to the Paracombe community on their hosting of a stage finish in 2015.
"The community of Paracombe did a terrific job hosting a stage finish a few years ago, and there's no doubt they'll put on a spectacular finish in 2017."
The 2017 Santos Tour Down Under will be held from Saturday 14 January until Sunday 22 January.
