Walk, ride or run, it's all about fun!

Adelaide Hills Council’s annual Discover Play Pathway event is coming to the Amy Gillett Bikeway on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This exciting, family-friendly event will feature activity hubs at both Woodside and Mount Torrens, showcasing a vibrant range of cultural and outdoor experiences.

Woodside will host a Welcome to Country with Smoking Ceremony and cultural workshops, offering an interactive experience and a meaningful way for attendees to connect with the region's heritage.

Mount Torrens Oval will be the site of the Mount Torrens Market and the highly anticipated Touch-a-Truck, a brand-new event for the Adelaide Hills. Families can explore a range of trucks and heavy equipment up close, enjoy a local market, and enjoy entertainment and yummy food.

Along the scenic Amy Gillett Bikeway, a 15 km paved, off-road pathway, attendees can bike, run, or walk the route or take a shorter section. Families can also enjoy bike hire to explore the area at their own pace.

Local businesses will be offering discounts on the day including Lobethal Road Wines and Barristers Block Wines.

About the Discover Play Pathway Event

The Discover Play Pathway Event is an annual community celebration brought to you by the Adelaide Hills Council. The event promotes outdoor activities, cultural understanding, and community engagement while supporting healthy lifestyles.

The Amy Gillet Bikeway is named in honour of Amy Gillett, a member of the Australian women’s cycling team who tragically died in 2005 while training in Germany, the pathway aims to promote the joy and safety of cycling.

Woodside and Mt Torrens Activity Hubs - What's on!

Activity hubs will feature food, art, crafts, markets, live entertainment, and a 'Touch a Truck' experience for kids. The hubs will be located at:

10:30am – 10:45am Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony

10:45am – 11:00am Amy Gillett’s Parents talk road and cycling safety

12:15pm – 12:30pm The Atlantic Street Band

Chalk artist - will be creating live from 11:00am on the Amy Gillett Bikeway Mt Torrens with buckets of chalk available for the kids to get involved!

Tips to enjoy the day

This is a fully accessible event. Accessible toilets are available at Woody Trails BMX Track in Woodside and Mt Torrens.

Stop by the SA Water Quench Bench in Woodside to refill your water.

Whether on wheels or on foot, don’t forget to keep left when travelling along the Bikeway. If you hear a bell, someone is trying to pass you, so move to the left and keep children and dogs close by.

On the day of the event if the forecast fire danger rating is above 'Extreme 75' or 'Catastrophic' for the Mount Lofty Ranges district the event will be cancelled.
