Expressions of Interest: Independent Member of Council Assessment Panel

The Adelaide Hills Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced members of the public to sit on its Council Assessment Panel (CAP).  The Council's Assessment Panel is an important committee of Council with responsibility for assessing a wide range of Development Applications including new houses, land divisions, major commercial developments and changes in land use.  It has a very significant role in ensuring that new development proposals are consistent with the Council's Development Plan.  The Panel considers about 5% of all development applications received by the Council.

The Council is seeking one member from the community who has a keen interest in planning and the appropriate skills and/or knowledge (refer to details below) and who is or will be accredited as a Planning Level 2 professional in accordance with the Accredited Professionals Scheme (click here to view a copy) and the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016. If you are not currently accredited, then you must achieve accreditation prior to appointment (i.e. by no later than July 2020). A preferred candidate will have qualifications and experience in one or more of the following fields:

  • urban and regional planning
  • architecture and design
  • landscape architecture, and
  • environmental/natural resource management.

The CAP is required to have at least 4 independent members of the public and 1 Council Elected Member pursuant to Sections 83 of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.  The CAP meets monthly – usually at 6:30pm on the second Wednesday of every month at Stirling.

Council currently pays a sitting fee of $380 (excl. GST) per meeting for the independent members of CAP.

Please send your expression of interest including a resume detailing your experience, skills, qualifications, accreditation and knowledge to:
