The Old School Community Garden committee is looking to recruit Stirling East Primary Old Scholars for their upcoming Open Day on 2 May 2021.
The committee is asking Old Scholars who attended the school before it moved from Old Mount Barker Road in 1969 to get in touch. Old Scholars are encouraged to provide any knowledge, photographs and historical memorabilia for the accompanying Open Day exhibition.
"We are looking for old photos of the school buildings and school site, writing slates and books or anything connected to the school in anyway," committee member Louise Roberts says.
"The Old School Community Garden have invested 10 years of nurturing, creativity, hard work and friendship into the restoration of these grounds."
"We are wanting more people to get involved and extend care to the heritage buildings that have such an important history in the Adelaide Hills."
The garden, located at 100 Old Mount Barker Road, hosts communal vegetable gardens, a greenhouse, pizza oven, and even a busy bee hotel!
The Open Day event at the Old School Community Garden will celebrate Stirling's rich history and native vegetation through guided tours in the garden and heritage buildings, workshops, talks and a range of kid-friendly activities.
