Biodiversity Volunteer Groups

If you would like to get involved in the Bushcare or biodiversity conservation space with other passionate, like-minded volunteers, there are a number of community led organisations active in the region.

Adelaide Hills Natural Resource Centre
This Centre is a community-led environmental information hub. Staffed by a Coordinator and volunteers, its aim is to encourage and support sustainable community actions for the conservation and protection of biodiversity in the region.

Aldgate Valley Landcare Group
Founded in 1996 by residents interested in working together on local nature conservation activities. Activities include weed control, interpretation, and monitoring native and pest animal activity.

Bush for Life 
The Bush For Life program started in 1994 to help people take practical steps to conserve our bushland. Become a volunteer by attending a Bushcare Workshop, which will teach you how to care for bushland, whether on your own property, an adopted bushcare site, or taking part in the extensive program of Bush Action Teams group activities (BATs).

Friends of Lobethal Bushland Park 
A group of dedicated enthusiastic volunteers who meet monthly at the park to undertake weed control, observation of native plants and animals, and generally enjoy the natural beauty of this great remnant.

Friends of Woorabinda Bushland Reserves 
The Friends undertake conservation activities in Hender Reserve, Madurta Reserve, Stirling Park and Woorabinda Reserve in accordance with the Management Plan for the site. Activities include weed control, revegetation, environmental monitoring and interpretation.

Friends of Protea and Michael Moran Reserves

The Friends Group work with Council on developing and implementing the Rehabilitation Concept Plan for Protea and Michael Moran Reserves. Activities include weed control, revegetation events, providing input and assisting with development of Nature Play and recreational facilities in the Reserves.

Mylor Parklands Bushcare Group

A passionate and committed group of local, environmental volunteers founded in 1994. The MPBG assists the Adelaide Hills Council  in developing and implementing the Management Plan for the Parklands, including the control of weeds through monthly working bees in the cooler months.

Sixth Creek Catchment Group
Representative group with an interest in land management and protection of our local environment, consisting of local Landcare Groups, landholders, community organisations and representatives from Government agencies. Activities include riparian rehabilitation projects carried out by Sixth Creek Catchment volunteers.

Sturt Upper Reaches Landcare Group
Community-led landcare work based in the  upper Sturt River reaches since 1995. Activities include supporting the local community in managing properties, running public meetings on current topics of interest with expert speakers, carrying out  on-site works, promoting best practice in managing vegetation for biodiversity and for water quality.

Upper River Torrens Landcare Group Inc.

Founded in 1989, the Group has engaged the Upper Torrens community in local action environmental activities. They aim to promote and encourage community involvement in catchment management through education, demonstration and implementation of on ground works. Also to enhance biodiversity by assisting the community to identify, conserve, protect and increase regional native vegetation.
