There are more than 700 active community groups in the Adelaide Hills Council area. Ranging from friends groups, training groups, special interest groups to less formal groups and gatherings of like minded people.
Many of these groups take advantage of the many facilities maintained for the community by Adelaide Hills Council, including our community centres, sports grounds, parks and libraries.
A complete and comprehensive listing of community groups is maintained on the SAcommunity website. This site is maintained by community groups themselves and assistance is provided by councils across the state.
So if you've ever wanted to become a friend of a park, facility, library or wanted to learn how to play bridge or any number of other things, there's likely to be a group for you.
Community group resources
Adelaide Hills Council is committed to providing opportunities for community groups and leaders to connect and build a region that is engaged, empowered, and dynamic. We have a suite of resources to help build the capacity of local groups.
Presentations
If hearing about a particular topic at one of your regular committee meetings would be more beneficial, Council staff are available to present to your community group on certain topics. If there is a topic you are interested in that is not listed below, please let us know and we'll investigate whether a presentation can be developed.
- Social media and communications
- Events and fundraising.
Two to four weeks' notice is preferred in order to confirm staff scheduling.
For more information and to book, please contact the Communications and Events team.
Event planning and management
Many community groups hold events of varying sizes as ways to connect with local residents, meet like-minded people, fundraise, or promote their services. We have a comprehensive toolkit for event organisers that is perfect for the novice, and a good reference even for those people with some event experience.
For further information, please visit our Support for Community Events page.
