A garden for all in Lobethal
Lobethal Community Kindergarten have been raising money and seeking grant funding to create a Community Garden for all to access.
The Community Garden is located next to Lobethal Kindy at No.1 Reserve Avenue, Lobethal and open for the community to enjoy.
Currently home to six raised garden beds planted with seedlings for Spring and Summer, plus a ‘Grow Free cart’ for donations of excess produce such as lemons and eggs, from the community and the kindy there are hopes this space will grow and meet the needs of locals.
"This is a terrific opportunity for collection of a few fresh veggies, salad leaves, herbs and edible flowers for everyone in the community," says Ailsa Zadow, Lobethal Kindergarten educator.
"It can save over-purchasing and food-wastage if only a small amount is wanted".
All of the children, families and staff at Lobethal Kindergarten are excited to spread the news about the Community Garden and have extended an invite to the community to contribute to the garden any way they choose.
"This could be in the form of weeding, harvesting, pruning, fertilizing or planting in the garden beds, or adding new features to further create the Community Garden space," Ms Zadow explains.
The Lobethal Kindergarten hope to see new faces visiting and using this space to come together. To learn more about the garden or to get involved, contact Ailsa Zadow at Lobethal Kindergarten via the details below.
