Adelaide Hills to give FOGO a GO GO in waste trial
The Adelaide Hills Council Food Organic and Garden Organics (FOGO) trial is set to begin on Tuesday 24 October, across three locations in the Woodside and Lenswood areas.
The 12-month trial will expand the green FOGO bin service and move the blue landfill waste service to a fortnightly collection to reduce landfill waste.
By moving to an expanded green FOGO bin service Council hope to provide a more convenient way for residents to dispose of their food scraps and compostable materials and divert food waste away from landfill.
The change in service will also provide additional capacity for residents to dispose of their garden organics and in doing so, help to minimise bushfire risk.
Trial locations and changes to service:
- Woodside township area Weekly green bin collection and fortnightly blue landfill bin. The yellow lidded recycling bin will remain a fortnightly collection. Note: this is not the entire township, but rather a select part of the township.
- Swamp Road/Tiers Road rural trial area Weekly green bin collection provided to rural properties that have never had a green bin. The yellow lidded recycling bin remains the same and the blue landfill bin changes to a fortnightly collection.
- Woodside East rural trial area Fortnightly green lidded bin collection provided to rural properties that have never had a green bin. The yellow lidded fortnightly recycling remains the same and the blue landfill bin changes to a fortnightly collection
