New accessible toilet facility for people with high support needs opens in Lobethal

Located at Fabrik Arts + Heritage in Lobethal, the new Changing Places facility offers a safe and accessible environment for individuals who require assistance with personal care and hygiene. This initiative aims to improve accessibility for the growing number of people with high support needs who cannot use standard accessible toilets.

The Changing Places facility is equipped with essential features, including:

  • A height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench
  • A tracking hoist system
  • Ample space for carers to assist users
  • Privacy screens
  • Easy access to all areas of the facility

This facility has been designed to meet the diverse needs of individuals with physical disabilities, their families, and support workers. It’s part of a broader push to create more accessible spaces in public areas throughout the Adelaide Hills and beyond.

The opening of this Changing Places accessible facility marks a significant milestone in making the region more inclusive. It reflects the commitment of the Adelaide Hills Council, disability advocacy groups, and the Australian Government to ensure that all members of the community have access to essential services and facilities.
