Community Grant recipients announced
Community groups across the Adelaide Hills are celebrating a significant funding boost thanks to the 2024 Community and Recreation Facility and Community Development Grants. These grants will support a variety of projects aimed at enhancing local amenities, safety, wellbeing, and community engagement.
One of the notable recipients is the Onkaparinga Cricket Club, which will receive $31,500 to upgrade their cricket training nets, providing better facilities for players of all ages. Johnston Memorial Park has been awarded $40,000 for new football coaches' boxes, a vital improvement for the local football community, while Mt Lofty District Football Club will soon see a new scoreboard thanks to a $25,000 grant.
The Gumeracha District Bowling Club will use their $9,918 grant to install new shade and seating for both players and spectators. For health and safety, the Bridgewater Adelaide Hills Walking Group will receive $2,390 to purchase an automatic external defibrillator and a backpack kit for their outdoor walks. Meanwhile, the Hills Little Athletics Centre will spend $1,649 on a laptop and a set of starter guns.
In support of wildlife conservation, the Save Our Wildlife Foundation will use their $1,928.85 grant to purchase possum nesting boxes, helping protect local wildlife. On the cultural front, Top of the Torrens Gallery will receive $2,500 for custom-made display units to showcase local art, and Mylor Primary School will allocate $2,500 towards supporting First Nations education for students.
These grants, totaling over $200,000, are part of a broader effort to strengthen the Adelaide Hills community by enhancing local infrastructure and fostering a connected, vibrant region.
