Community update — Hahndorf Township Improvements and Access Upgrade and Review of Heavy Vehicle Safety on the SE Freeway

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) has released its preferred solution for the Hahndorf Township Improvements and Access upgrade.

Three key features of the project will affect Adelaide Hills Council residents:

  • Verdun Interchange Upgrade – the existing interchange will be upgraded to a full interchange, allowing access to and from the South Eastern Freeway in all directions.
  • Extension of Pioneer Women’s Trail – the trail will be extended between Verdun and Hahndorf which will include a bridge replacement and widening over the Onkaparinga River to accommodate the new section of the trail.
  • Upgraded multi-purpose car park facility at Verdun – this upgrade will improve access to public transport.

The community are able to attend two feedback sessions regarding these ongoing projects, with community consultation closing on Monday 31 October, 2022.

Drop-in community information sessions for the Hahndorf Township Improvements and Access upgrade will be held at the Hahndorf Memorial Institute on Tuesday 18 October from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm and on Saturday 22 October from 10.00 am until 12.00 noon. These sessions will cover the design of the Verdun Interchange
upgrade, the Main Street Improvements and the extension of the Pioneer Women’s Trail.

Feedback must be submitted no later than Monday 31 October. If you are unable to attend these sessions, you can also provide feedback online via the project website or email. See links below.

The State Government Review is also inviting feedback on heavy vehicle safety on the South-Eastern Freeway down-track (the city-bound lanes) between Crafers and the intersection of Cross Road, Portrush Road and Glen Osmond Road. You can submit feedback via the link below.
