Council seeks public input on the Draft 2024-2028 Animal Management Plan

Council is encouraging residents to participate in shaping the future of animal management in the region by providing feedback on the Draft Animal Management Plan for 2024-2028.

Following an extensive consultation process in May 2023, where the Council received valuable input from over 600 people, a draft plan has been developed and is now open for public review.

During the consultation, we sought to understand the issues related to the management of dogs and cats in the Hills area.

Residents were asked to identify specific challenges they were experiencing, their locations, and propose potential solutions or opportunities to address these issues. Furthermore, the consultation aimed to prioritise these issues and solutions based on community feedback.

The resulting Draft Animal Management Plan outlines strategies and objectives to effectively manage dogs and cats in the region over the next four years. Sections 8 and 9 of the plan detail these strategies and objectives, providing a comprehensive framework for addressing the identified issues.

Council is now inviting residents to review the draft plan and provide their feedback. Input from the community is vital in ensuring the plan reflects the needs and expectations of residents, and the well-being of animals in the area.

Residents are encouraged to consider whether the strategies and objectives outlined in the plan align with their perspectives and experiences.

You can provide feedback by sending a letter to 63 Mount Barker Road, Stirling SA 5152, or by:

Feedback on the draft plan is due by Monday, February 26, 2024.

Residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to contribute to the development of the Animal Management Plan and help create a safer and more inclusive environment for pets and their owners in the Hills region.
