Council turns orange to support 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Council is proud to support the UN’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence by turning orange.
On Monday, 25 November, the Coventry Library in Stirling will be lit up in orange to mark the campaign’s beginning. This campaign starts on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November) and runs until 10 December. This year’s theme, #SafeEverywhereAlways, uses orange to symbolise a brighter future free from violence.
In partnership with the Zonta Club of Adelaide Hills, the Council will display orange lady silhouettes in community centers, including a large display at the Coventry Library. These displays will include educational materials on domestic and family violence, along with information on support services.
Special Event: Twilight Vigil at Mount Lofty Summit
The Zonta Club of Adelaide Hills will also hold a twilight vigil at Mount Lofty Summit on Thursday, 5 December, from 8 pm to 9 pm. All community members are welcome to attend this important event to show their support.
Council’s Commitment to Preventing Violence
In July 2023, the Adelaide Hills Council adopted a Statement of Commitment to prevent violence against women and children. This initiative highlights the Council’s responsibility to address and prevent violence in the community.
Together, let’s stand up, speak out, and work towards a future where everyone feels safe.
