Fabrik Arts + Heritage

Fabrik official opening. The transformation is complete!

In the buildings where the iconic Onkaparinga blankets were once crafted, Fabrik Arts + Heritage is set to weave a new story

To celebrate the completion of the major re-development, Fabrik will showcase an opening weekend program, from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September, that welcomes visitors to connect with our community and artists, and to enjoy being part of this wonderful new chapter. There will be artist talks, workshops, music, and opportunities to get crafty!

This heritage listed site has great significance to the Adelaide Hills community, not only as a place of industry, but as a place of refuge and recovery post the 2019 Cudlee Creek bushfires that surrounded the town of Lobethal. Almost five years on, the community can celebrate this space again and bring the community together through creativity.

Fabrik features an A-class gallery, retail store and event space alongside workshop spaces, artist studios and accommodation for artists in residence. Throughout the hub its textile roots and Onkaparinga Woollen Mill history are celebrated through museum displays.

The hub will open to the public at 5pm on Friday 20 September. Visitors are invited to explore our exhibitions, join an artist workshop, enjoy some live entertainment, and listen to a curator talk from Kay Lawrence.

All things are connected, curated by artist Kay Lawrence and present, a project by India Flint for Fabrik Arts + Heritage are the opening exhibitions and will be on view until 27 October.

Visitors are also invited to be part of the Fabrik history by signing their name on the signature cloth. The Fabrik volunteers will then stitch the names into the cloths and will be displayed in our gallery as a piece on our opening history.
