Grow, Share and Care with the Hut Food Pantry
As the demand for food pantry services increases in the Adelaide Hills community, The Hut Community Centre needs your support.
The services provide fresh produce to people experiencing financial hardship and rely on donations from local individuals and businesses. Sadly, this year demand for the pantry service has grown, while donations have reduced.
One young local woman, who was concerned about how many people are having trouble putting healthy food on the table, has developed a project to raise funds for The Hut Community Centre Food Pantry.
Eighteen-year-old Livy, has been raising money through selling cut flowers and foliage from her grandparent's Aldgate property. With the help of her family, she has also been propagating and selling strawberry, raspberry and boysenberry plants at street stalls and through a network of friends and contacts.
The Hut Community Centre are calling for others, like Livy, to grow, care, and share to ensure our communities have access to fresh food.
If you have a healthy garden and would like to help, please consider donating your surplus fruit and vegies to The Hut. You may even like to consider growing a special patch especially for donation!
Produce of any quantity will be gratefully received on Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm at The Hut 1 Euston Road, Aldgate.
