Quit your way in May
The annual 'Quit your way in May' event is set to take place again in South Australia, encouraging smokers to quit their own way. The event, now in its third year, designates May 1 as the quit date and provides a supportive platform for participants to quit alongside others while celebrating all quit attempts.
New participants can receive daily support emails from 'Quit your way in May', which offer guidance on quitting smoking, distraction techniques for nicotine cravings, and words of encouragement for ultimate success. Moreover, registrants can join the 'Quit your way' Facebook support group, which previous participants have found helpful.
Supported by Quitline, the Heart Foundation, and the Australian Medical Association (SA), this year's event is partnering with Mix102.3 and Triple M to encourage registrations and reach a goal of 1,250 registrations by the end of May. Radio hosts Shane Lowe from Mix102.3 and Brett Prince from 5CC have signed up and will share their quitting experiences on-air.
Quitting smoking is beneficial for overall health, regardless of age, and every quitting journey is unique. What works for one person may not work for another, but every attempt teaches new skills and knowledge that can be applied to future quit attempts.
