Renewals for roads and footpaths
Follow the newly laid red brick footpath on Mount Barker Road in Bridgewater and you won't find a wizard, but locals can now enjoy a fresh space and upgraded park bench to sit and enjoy the beautiful autumn gardens. The footpath renewal has replaced deteriorated asphalt with red Littlehampton clay pavers and stone garden edging.
Pedestrians can now enjoy a smooth stroll on the newly sealed footpath on Victoria Street in Gumeracha. The 50 metre stretch improves the connection along Victoria St from McLaren St to Albert Street.
Works along Onkaparinga Valley Road in Balhannah are well underway with 1780m2 of base preparation complete. NBN co ltd (NBN) are currently completing infrastructure works within the footpath and, once complete, Adelaide Hills Council contractors will finalise the project with the asphalt seal layer.
Council is also working to improve road safety with the federally funded Black Spot project on Woods Hill Road, between Summertown and Ashton. Works have begun with the construction of 800m2 of unsealed road shoulder, installation of signage and line markings for improved delineation and warning of curves, and the speed limit has been reduced from 80km/h to 60km/h. Further works will take place in the coming months, including the installation of safety barriers on a particularly dangerous section of the road and improvements at the intersection of Tregarthen Road, Woods Hill Road, and Stony Rise Road.
