Stirling Coventry Library Closure: 1 June for Electrical Upgrade
The Stirling Coventry Library will be closed on Saturday, 1 June, for the replacement of the main electrical switchboard.
During the closure, patrons are encouraged to visit the Woodside or Gumeracha Libraries. Please note, online services such as internet access or WiFi at these locations may be disrupted on Saturday.
Additionally, car parks accessed from Merrion Terrace to the east and southeast of the library will be closed to all vehicles during this time.
The Stirling Coventry Library is planned to reopen on Sunday, 2 June. The Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.
Reason for the Switchboard Replacement
- The Council is committed to minimising the effects of climate change, which includes transitioning its fleet to electric vehicles.
- As part of this initiative, charging stations are being installed at the Stirling Council Office. These stations require an upgrade to the main switchboard.
- Replacing the switchboard necessitates cutting the main power supply, and as such, the Coventry Library must be unoccupied during the process.
- Transitioning to electric vehicles is part of a broader program to reduce emissions. This program has included the installation of solar photovoltaic panels, energy audits, and efficiency upgrades in Council buildings, LED street lighting upgrades, the purchase of 100% renewable energy, changes to procurement practices, participation in a circular procurement trial, and the declaration of a climate emergency.
