Create sensational colourful metal earrings with eco jeweller Sue Garrard.

Here's what you will do.

You will colour and decorate pre-cut and primed pieces of reclaimed aluminium using acrylic paint and paint pens.

Once dry, you will enamel your pieces using low-temp enamel powder and then fire them in small kilns that run on tea-light power.

Using discarded Tupperware lids and other plastics you will use scissors to cut a variety of shapes to design the rest of your earrings.

Finally, you will assemble and complete all the pieces using sterling silver jump rings and sterling silver hooks.

Sue keeps her workshop participant numbers small, making it easier for her to give you her undivided attention.

About the facilitator

Sue Garrard is a South Australian artist practicing in the areas of jewellery, printmaking, and sculpture.

Her work focuses on sustainability and challenges society’s perceptions of preciousness.

Using reclaimed and recycled materials enables Sue to balance her desire to create with a practice that treads lightly on the planet and sparks conversations about sustainability and our relationship with materials.

Sue believes workshops are where this dialogue becomes hands-on. It’s a chance to challenge ideas about what’s “precious” and show how beauty and sustainability can coexist.

Seeing participants discover the potential in something overlooked is incredibly rewarding.
