Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) Trial
The trial has now come to an end and the results have been very positive. Council considered a report on trial outcomes and next steps regarding changes to the kerbside bin service at the 15 October 2024 Council meeting.
For further information, the Council report and minutes from the meeting can be found on Council’s website at www.ahc.sa.gov.au.
In summary and relevant to the trial undertaken in your area, Council Members resolved that the properties within the Woodside township trial area shall remain on a weekly FOGO collection, fortnightly waste collection and fortnightly comingled recycling collection.
Council also resolved that commencing August 2025 the default bin service for all townships within the Council area will change to weekly FOGO and fortnightly waste collection. The yellow lidded recycling bin will remain at a fortnightly collection frequency.
The trial involved changes to the collection of the FOGO and landfill bin, as well as introducing green FOGO bins to areas that previously have not had them. The aim of the bin collection change is to improve environmental impact by decreasing the amount of waste that goes to landfill, particularly organic waste.
What to do in your area:
Swamp/Tiers Road and Woodside East Participants:
In line with the above, the return to the pre-trial collection service will commence from 10 December 2024. At this time your blue lidded waste bin can be placed out for weekly collection. The green lidded FOGO bin can be left on the kerb ready for collection by Council after the 3rd December pick up. The yellow lidded recycling bin remains at a fortnightly collection frequency.
Your collection schedule will return to the 2024/2025 Kerbside Collection Calendar located on Councils website.
Woodside Township participants:
There are no changes required for properties within the Woodside township trial area as they shall remain on a weekly FOGO collection, fortnightly waste collection and fortnightly comingled recycling collection. Please continue with the Trial service schedule.
An updated waste collection calendar will be placed on Councils website in the coming weeks for your reference.
