You may love reading haiku, or you may write haiku yourself, but have you ever created a Haiga? Come and learn about the subtle interchange between text and pictures that a Haiga can evoke.
You don’t have to be a great poet or an artist to both appreciate and create your own versions of this hybrid art form. Concertina books, drawing materials, glue and collage materials will be provided.
Bring some favourite haiku and/or some of your own haiku, as well as some of your favourite images, fabrics, coloured paper scraps and your own drawings if you have any. We will explore some Haiga examples and then create our own Haiga to fill a small concertina book.
Julia Wakefield is a poet, writer, and visual artist. She is currently the convenor of the Bindii Japanese forms poetry group.
